North Dakota Court Ordered Alcohol and Drug Rehab Centers

These statistics show a direct link between addiction and criminal arrest.
The Need for Court-Ordered Treatment in North Dakota
Because of this link, the courts will often require people who have been arrested while under the influence or on other drug- or alcohol- related charges to attend treatment for their addiction. This type of treatment is known as court-ordered treatment. Many facilities throughout North Dakota offer treatment programs that are in line with the court requirements. Arrestees who are asked to attend treatment may be given shorter sentences, earlier parole or a pretrial release if they follow through with the treatment.
Is court-ordered treatment effective? Many studies have found that it is quite effective in encouraging sobriety in those who would never have considered treatment without the mandate. The pressure created by the courts for court-ordered treatment helps ensure that the individual follows through with treatment. After all, if the individual stops treatment, the jail time or higher fees will be enforced. This accountability and legal pressure also helps promote a positive result. Also, court-ordered treatment programs follow a proven counseling plan that has shown itself to be effective. People who attend court-ordered treatment often have higher success rates than those who seek treatment on their own.
