United Healthcare Rehabs In Kentucky – Insurance Coverage

When dealing with rehab for mental health or substance abuse issues, one of your first priorities is to determine what is eligible for coverage. Every insurance plan is different, including those under United Healthcare Insurance in Kentucky. Before choosing a rehab facility or a type of therapy, such as holistic therapy or cognitive behavioral therapy, check out the available plans. This will guide your decisions on which rehab facilities, therapy programs, and treatment methods are best suited for your budget.

United Healthcare Choice

United Healthcare offers insurance to Kentucky through a variety of group or employer-based policies. One of the more affordable plans is United Healthcare Choice. This policy is an open access plan that offers fixed dollar co-pays along with coinsurance options. As a result, you can expect to pay less out-of-pocket expenses for your drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

United Healthcare Choice Plus

United Healthcare Choice Plus offers the same benefits as the previous plan with some perks. For example, you can go into inpatient or outpatient treatment for drugs and alcohol with a provider outside of your network. Keep in mind, you will have to pay more for coinsurance and your deductible level will be higher. However, you will still be able to use your benefits to cover your treatment costs.

United Healthcare Options PPO

As a PPO, the United Healthcare Options PPO lets you choose from any primary care physician or specialist in the nation. You are not restricted by in-network versus out of network doctors. If you are searching for the best treatment and therapies for your drug and alcohol rehabilitation, this frees you up to make the optimal choice for your needs.

Plus, you do not have to get a referral from your primary care physician in order to choose a rehabilitation provider. If you do choose to use a physician outside of your network, you will have to pay more for your insurance coverage. However, you will receive the same level of insurance benefits as you would have if you’d chosen a doctor within your network. Another factor to note about choosing physicians outside of your network is that you will be responsible for submitting insurance claims when you receive care or treatment for substance abuse.

Covering the Costs of Treatment

In addition to group insurance coverage, you may be eligible for some individual coverage plans. The costs for covering your treatment will vary on whether you select inpatient treatment or outpatient treatment. However, your outpatient doctor visits are capped at a cost of $50 per visit.

Additionally, you are limited to a maximum of $3,000 of term coverage to pay for mental disorders or substance abuse treatment. Keep this in mind when looking at the total cost of your entire treatment program. For example, while you might start in intensive inpatient treatment, you may need addition outpatient care after to stay focused on your recovery.

Paying for Alternative Therapies

If you are interested in receiving alternative therapies, such as holistic therapy, check with your addiction specialist or mental health provider beforehand. Alternative therapies noted by the Office of Alternative Medicine of the National Institutes of Health will not be included under most Kentucky United Healthcare insurance policies.
