Many individuals who struggle with addiction to drugs or alcohol do not seek treatment because they do not think that they can afford it. Using your Cigna health insurance plan may be an option that can help you get the treatment you need to live a life of sobriety. Learn about more treatment options now.
It’s estimated that as many as 50 percent of all people struggling with either drug or alcohol issues don’t seek the help they need, simply because they cannot afford the inpatient rehabilitative treatment that has become so synonymous with long-term substance abuse success. One obvious reason is because many people who’ve succumbed to the desires of drugs or alcohol are low income or in poverty. But another reason is because many people have inadequate insurance policies that cover substance abuse and mental health treatment either minimally or not at all.
On that last note, it’s important to be selective when choosing a healthcare plan just as much as how it’s important to know the healthcare plan provided by your employer and what exactly it covers when it comes to rehabilitative treatment no matter where you reside, let alone in the state of California. In this post specifically, we’ll discuss what the provider Cigna offers when it comes to substance abuse and mental health treatment in California.
Cigna Healthcare in California
For those who live in California, Cigna is an available healthcare option. It’s worth noting that the plans that Cigna offers remain somewhat consistent from state to state, although certain specialty state-specific plans do exist. For instance, while the healthcare provider offers a variety of high deductible and low deductible health plans, in Los Angeles County, it only offers three high deductible health plans – the Health Flex 6400, Health Savings 6100 and the California Bronze, all of which come with an individual annual deductible of at least $6,000 and an annual family deductible of at least $12,000. Also under the three plans, out-of-pocket individual maximums are up to $6,700 and family maximums up to $13,400.

Cigna Healthcare in California for Rehabilitative Treatment
Cigna does cover the likes of inpatient residential treatment, detox, and group and individual counseling under its California health plans, however what is covered and how much is covered varies based on the plan. For instance, under its California Bronze plan, even after meeting the insurance deductible, members are responsible for 100 percent of any in-network inpatient treatment costs when it comes to rehabilitation. This differs greatly from the Flex 6400 plan, however, as that plan covers the service to an extent, and requires members to pay 40 percent of additional inpatient costs after meeting the deductible.
The other main plan, the Health Savings 6100 might just be the best plan of all when it comes to inpatient rehabilitative services, as members don’t have to pay anything out-of-pocket for in-network treatment after they reach their deductible. If they’re seeking treatment at a provider outside of their network, however, they’ll be required to pay for 50 percent of the costs after meeting the deductible.
