Rehab Centers That Accept BCBS Insurance In Maryland

A person who suffers from the disease of addiction will do well to seek treatment as soon as possible. Unfortunately, many people wait many months or years to obtain treatment, meaning their condition often worsens and leads to numerous negative consequences, including loss of employment, broken relationships, decrease in health, and more. It’s also not uncommon for people with the disease of addiction to end up in trouble with the law, sometimes resulting in having to go to jail or prison. On the upside, by entering into a rehab center in Maryland, it becomes possible to manage the disease of addiction by not abusing drugs and/or alcohol. Even better is that Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance can help pay for the accompanying costs of going to rehab.

What substance abuse services does Blue Cross Blue Shield cover?

When a person chooses to use insurance to pay for a portion or all of their rehab expenses, it’s imperative to review the policy to understand which services are and are not covered. For instance, the costs of going to rehab may be covered, but any recreational activities that are partaken in may not; this is commonly seen at higher-end rehab centers that allow their patients to play golf, go to the movies, and take part in other activities.

It depends on your exact policy as to which services are covered. If you have the BluePreferred Platinum plan, you won’t have to pay a deductible if you go to a participating provider, while a $1,000 deductible is required per person on the plan if you go to a non-participating provider. Also, when staying at an inpatient center, you’ll be required to pay 10 percent of the allowed benefit if going to a participating provider. For a non-participating provider, you’ll need to meet your deductible and then 30 percent of the allowed benefit.

The BluePreferred HSA Bronze 3500 requires you to meet a $3,500 deductible per person, or $7,000 for the entire family if you go to a participating provider. This deductible amount doubles when going to a non-participating provider. For outpatient services, you’ll have to meet your deductible and pay $30 for each office visit. For inpatient services, you’ll need to meet your deductible and then 20 percent of your allowed benefit; this is when going to a participating provider.

Does Blue Cross Blue Shield cover detox services?

Generally, the answer to this question is yes. You will need to pay your deductible before qualifying for coverage, and the exact amount that you’ll qualify for will depend on whether or not the detox services are acquired at an inpatient or outpatient center. Because many detox programs are inpatient, you will likely have to meet your inpatient rehab services qualifications, and it depends on whether or not the rehab center is a participating provider as to which percentage of your allowed benefit that you’ll have to pay.

In addition to detox services and treatment itself, many Blue Cross Blue Shield plans will cover aftercare costs. Do keep in mind that there are a variety of free aftercare services to take advantage of, meaning you don’t always have to use your insurance coverage to improve your progress in recovery. For example, going to AA and NA meetings doesn’t cost anything, so you won’t need to turn these services/activities into your insurance. Counseling and other forms of aftercare, such as group therapy, will likely be covered based on the type of facility they are acquired through. Outpatient aftercare will of course qualify for coverage under substance use/behavioral health.

No matter the plan that you have through Blue Cross Blue Shield, it’s pertinent to speak with a qualified agent to learn about your many treatment options. You may learn that it’s much more affordable to attend an inpatient program rather than an outpatient one, and as always, going to a participating provider will likely be less expensive than going to a non-participating provider.
