Rehab Centers That Accept Aetna Insurance in South Carolina

For those struggling with substance abuse, rehab can be the first step in the path to recovery. Rehab offers potential patients the opportunity to meet with trained specialists who are trained to treat substance abuse. Those in rehab learn how the illness impacts the body and what they can do to improve their health and regain a sober life.

However, the question of cost is an important one to consider. Rehab can easily stretch on for weeks or months as patients build relationships and support systems. Fortunately, insurance companies do provide patients with coverage that can help them manage expenses. Here is what South Carolina residents should know about their local Aetna coverage.

Aetna Substance Abuse Coverage In South Carolina

South Carolina Aetna plans are offered through the company CoventryOne. The available plans in South Carolina under this company are Gold, Silver, and Bronze. These levels describe the level of expenses you can expect to pay: Gold plans typically have 20 percent out-of-pocket costs; Silver level plans require 30 percent; and Bronze plans have 40 percent.

It is important to note for all the Gold and Silver level plans offered from CoventryOne in South Carolina, there are three levels of care costs. Choosing a provider from the in-network HPN offers you the lowest deductible. The next highest deductible will be for regular in-network care. Finally, the highest deductible and costs are associated with out-of-network providers.

Based on this care model, you will receive care regardless of the provider you choose, which can help ensure that you find facilities, therapists, and other vital practitioners that best meet your needs. You also have access to a highly-qualified network of providers that can help you minimize your expenses within the HPN network. It is important to note that for most of these plans, pre-authorization is required for mental health and substance abuse treatment.

All of the plans on this list currently require you to get a referral from a primary care provider before you pursue treatment from a specialist. Specialists are an important part of rehab. Therapists that specialist in treatments like cognitive behavior therapy or dialectical behavior therapy can be very valuable to those who require their special services.

Those struggling with substance abuse often find themselves needing emergency medical services, as substance abuse can cause serious health problems and even death. Most Aetna plans in the state have a flat copayment per visit, but there are a couple of plans with a co-insurance payment.

Gold

The Gold plan level has a separate, special $500 deductible for out-of-network medication coverage. This is important to factor in if you end up needing prescriptions to help with detox or other parts of rehab. When you check into inpatient care under this plan, you will have a co-insurance rate that will need to be paid. If you go through outpatient treatment, there will be a flat co-pay per visit.

Silver

Some of the Silver level plans offered by Aetna include separate deductibles for in and out-of-network medication coverage. This extra in-network deductible is generally waived when you use preferred generic prescription drugs. At the Silver level, some cost structures are similar to the Gold level plan, in that co-pays are used for outpatient treatment and coinsurance for inpatient treatment. Other plans, however, have a copay for outpatient and a copay plus coinsurance for inpatient treatment.

Bronze

While some of the Bronze level plans do have the three tiered types of coverage, others differ. For these plans, there is no out-of-network coverage for mental and behavioral health treatment. Some of the plans offered in the Bronze level will have a flat copay for both inpatient and outpatient care for in-network coverage. The plans that do not have out-of-network coverage have 0 percent co-insurance and no copay for in-network care.

None of these plans have a separate deductible for prescription drug coverage.

As patients prepare to enter rehab, learning about their insurance coverage can be an important step in choosing the right care. Always speak with an insurance representative before making decisions about healthcare.
