Rehab Centers That Accept Aetna Insurance In Indiana

For many people struggling with substance abuse, rehab is their best chance at recovery and getting started back on the path towards health. Rehab programs work with patients to address their individual problems and struggles that may have led to substance abuse. They will be empowered with a variety of tools that can help them resist temptations when they reenter society. They also may receive family support and therapy so that a stronger support system can be built.

The problem for many patients, however, is finding a way to finance this important and lifesaving treatment. Health insurance, however, will provide some degree of coverage. Patients and their loved ones will need to carefully review their insurance plan so they know what will be included for their own care.

Aetna Substance Abuse Coverage in Indiana

For patients in Indiana, Aetna offers two main types of health insurance plans. This is their PPO plan, known as their Open Choice, and their Silver Indemnity Plan. The different PPO plans are divided up into three levels: Gold, Silver, and Bronze. These levels describe the amount of health care you can expect the insurance company to cover and how much will be paid out of your pocket. The higher a plan is ranked, the more you will pay in premiums, but the less you will pay in direct health care costs. Patients must evaluate which plan structure works the best for them.

Since these plans are all PPO and on the same network, there will be some similarities in the types of coverage offered and how payment is structured.

All of the PPO plans will allow you to access any participating provider without needing a referral. This can help you access the care you need faster. It is not uncommon for patients to realize that they need help for their substance abuse and want to begin treatment right away. Since there is no need for a referral, that can happen. You can select the perfect inpatient or outpatient facility that meets your needs and contact them to get started as soon as you realize that you need it. This plan also allows you to receive treatment from an out-of-network provider, although you will have to pay a greater percentage of the care. This means, however, that you can select just about any licensed facility.

If you have an emergency related to your substance abuse before treatment can begin, you can receive emergency services from any licensed facility and you will be covered at the in-network rate regardless of whether or not they are actually in the Aetna network.

As a rehab patient, you may also need to discuss the role of medication in your treatment with your practitioners. Depending upon the severity, duration and type of substance abuse problem you have, you might end up needing medications to help you cope with the detox process as your body rids itself of the drugs. As you delve into treatment, it is also not unusual for patients to discover that they have co-occurring disorders, such as depression or anxiety. Medications may be able to help patients in certain situations face these health problems as well. Prescription drugs typically have a copay under these PPO plans, although certain medications classified as Specialty Drugs, will be covered with a 50 percent coinsurance rate. Different types of drugs will have different costs. Preferred generic drugs will have the lowest copayment, followed by preferred brand drugs and then non-preferred drugs. To keep your costs low, you should be familiar with where your needed medications are classified and work with your provider to minimize your copay costs.

It is important to note that treatments that are deemed experimental as well as those that are considered non-medically necessary are generally not covered by the Aetna plans. If you are interested in holistic treatment options, it is important to speak with your provider and an insurance representative to make sure you know whether or not your care will be covered.

The Indemnity Plan

The Indemnity plan generally requires 20 percent coinsurance after the deductible has been met for most rehab-related services, including hospital stays and emergency room treatment. This plan does follow the same pay structure for pharmaceuticals.

As patients prepare for rehab, it is important to know exactly what is covered under your individual plan. This will allow you to make informed decisions about your care. Always speak with an insurance representative before making medical decisions that would require coverage.
