Substance Abuse In Green County

Methamphetamine use has been on the rise in Wisconsin the last few years, and the state has high rates of alcohol abuse in some areas. Fortunately, news sources are not rife with reports of drug trafficking and overdose in Green County. There are, however, a few instances in which individuals were apprehended for possessing or distributing drugs in the area, such as:

  • Three people were arrested in Monroe in July 2018 for possession of illegal drugs. One was charged with possession with intent to deliver heroin.

  • Two individuals were recently arrested in Green County for manufacturing methamphetamine.

  • A Monroe man was taken into custody in October 2018 drug possession and suspicion of trafficking after police found cocaine, marijuana, and psilocybin mushrooms in his home.

Traveling For Treatment

Living in a small town means that traveling for treatment may be necessary. While this may seem like an inconvenience, it can be a good thing. A willingness to travel presents more opportunities for a person to choose the right program for their needs.

Traveling for treatment also removes a person from familiar surroundings. Being near home during treatment may mean associating with people and places that support substance abuse. Many people find that leaving their home environment gives them the fresh start they need to focus on recovery.
