Substance Abuse In St. Croix County

In St. Croix County, almost three times as many children were taken by Child Protective Services (CPS) in 2018 than in 2017. Parents abusing opioid drugs and methamphetamine were the primary cause of this surge.

In fact, St. Croix County had the eight highest number of methamphetamine cases in the state of Wisconsin in 2017. Nearby counties Barron and Eau Claire had even more. While the opioid epidemic worsens throughout Wisconsin and the United States, many people do not realize the effect that meth still has on families and communities.

Traveling For The Best Program

Since Hudson is located near the border of Minnesota, it is close to St. Paul on one side and Eau Claire on the other. These cities offer many options for quality addiction treatment. The best program may be located away from home, in a larger city with a wide variety of programs to choose from.

Getting away from home during treatment is what some people need to truly make a fresh start. It can be hard to change in the home environment, where everything and everyone may be a reminder of substance use. Many individuals find that immersing themselves in a supportive, therapeutic environment is the only way they can heal.
