Primary treatment lasts about 21 days, but some individuals may stay for transitional residential treatment for up to 180 days.

Eau Claire Academy, Eau Claire

Eau Claire Academy is a residential treatment facility for adolescents who struggle with behavioral health issues, including substance abuse as a dual diagnosis. This facility provides education so teens can stay current with schooling. The Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse (AODA) program follows the 12 steps and uses group therapy as a foundation for treatment.

Drug Abuse Issues In Pierce County

While heroin and other opioids are commonly found in Eastern Wisconsin, methamphetamine is much more prevalent in Western Wisconsin. The Pierce County Sheriff’s office reports that methamphetamine is a growing problem in the area—cheaper and more present in 2017 than in the previous two decades.

Methamphetamine was found in a Pierce County woman’s house in August 2018, along with 750 pills for which she did not verify prescriptions. In September, a man was found to have methamphetamine, several pills, and drug paraphernalia. Both cases were in River Falls.
