Alcohol and Drug Rehab Centers in Crandon, Wisconsin

Crandon, Wisconsin Alcohol And Drug Rehab Centers

Crandon is the county seat of Forest County, and is situated near the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest, far from any large cities. This rural location is home to many small towns, and not many addiction treatment facilities. There are, however, two alcohol and drug rehab centers that are easily accessible to Crandon residents.

Forest County Potawatomi

This alcohol and other drug abuse (AODA) treatment program serves Native and non-Native Americans. It considers a person’s cultural values during treatment and may incorporate traditional and cultural teachings. The outpatient program follows the 12 steps and also uses education, family sessions, individual therapy, and community based-group therapy to help individuals recover from addiction.

Koinonia, Rhinelander

“Koinonia” means “fellowship around a common goal.” This residential treatment center brings together recovering individuals to support each other through the healing process. It is also important that family is a part of the program. Treatment includes yoga, nutrition, support groups, and therapy for the individual, group, and family.

Substance Abuse Problems In Crandon And Forest County

In January 2018, two people were arrested for supplying heroin that lead to a Crandon man’s overdose death. They were found to have cocaine, narcotic pills, and marijuana as well. Several more people from Crandon were arrested in February 2018 for manufacturing and selling cocaine and heroin.

After a traffic stop in Crandon in August 2018, a woman admitted to having 12 grams of heroin, 4 grams of crack cocaine, and 2 grams of marijuana concealed in her body. She and the woman with her were arrested for selling drugs on the Potawatomi reservation.

Sadly, these incidents show that even small towns are not immune to drug trafficking and substance abuse that has become such a problem across the country in recent years.

Traveling For The Best Program

There are plenty more options for addiction treatment in Wisconsin, but they require a bit of traveling. Some people prefer to travel for treatment; it gets them away from the environment where they started abusing drugs or alcohol in the first place.

Traveling also allows a person to weight their options and look at different rehab programs. It is important for someone to choose the best program for their needs. In fact, it could make the difference between relapse and lasting recovery.

Some people leave their hometown, or even their home state, to enroll in the treatment program that is right for them. Some only need a few hours of distance to embrace change in a new environment.

The following alcohol and drug rehab centers are less than two hours from Crandon:

Maehnowesekiyah Wellness Center, Gresham

This alcohol and drug rehab center provides a range of services for Native Americans with substance use disorders and other mental health issues. According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration (SAMHSA), this facility uses evidence-based therapies like motivational interviewing, trauma-informed care, and behavioral therapy as part of an inpatient or outpatient treatment program.

Jackie Nitschke Center, Green Bay

Jackie Nitschke Center has a 28-day residential treatment program, an intensive outpatient program (IOP), and an outpatient program. Individuals may choose to begin the IOP, which allows more flexibility, but many start in residential care and gradually step down to an outpatient program. Treatment includes individual, group, and family counseling, education, support groups, exercise, and leisure.

Ascension Behavioral Health Residential Treatment Center, Stevens Point

This facility offers residential treatment for alcohol and other drug abuse (AODA). It is staffed with medical professionals, including an addictionologist, psychiatrist, and substance abuse counselors. Recovering individuals receive 24-hour support, and may be able to step down into outpatient care at another Ascension facility when appropriate.
