Drug And Alcohol Treatment In Cherry Hill

The Kennedy University Hospital - Cherry Hill Substance Abuse Services provides substance abuse treatment for adults. As part of the behavioral health department, the center offers a variety treatment programs including inpatient mental health, outpatient mental health, dual diagnosis, and outpatient substance abuse services.

Dual diagnosis treatment consists of both intensive outpatient and partial hospitalization services. Each program teaches patients the skills and tools needed for relapse prevention during recovery. The intensive outpatient programs are offered during day and evening hours, and run for 3 ½ hours long, featuring both individual and group therapy sessions.

Steininger Behavioral Care Services provides a host of services regarding mental health conditions and substance abuse. With a full-time psychologist on hand, the treatment center offers evaluations, diagnosis, and prevention tactics to help those suffering from substance abuse and other mental health issues.

The psychologist will meet with the patient and likely cover a variety of behavioral therapy in both group and individual sessions. The goal is to improve the mental and emotional well-being of the patient, while providing tools and skills to deal with potential life stressors that may lead to further substance abuse.

Unity Place is a partial care and addiction services program for adults. By providing a stable environment, Unity Place hopes to foster a person’s skills to live a healthy and independent life, and learn how to adapt to stress and remain drug or alcohol free.

Unity Place provides a variety of services to help people manage addiction and substance abuse. Services include creative activities, psychiatric evaluation, social and independent life skills training, chemical abuse education and treatment, individual and group counseling, and special activities and events.

Substance Abuse In Cherry Hill And Camden County

In early 2018, Camden County filed a lawsuit against pharmaceutical companies that manufacture opioids. Several local governments around the country are filing lawsuits against big pharmaceutical companies for not providing adequate warnings of the dangers of opioid abuse. Many people first get hooked on opioids, and then turn to cheaper, more accessible street drugs like heroin.

The people of Camden County have mixed reactions to the lawsuit. Some believe a civil lawsuit won’t do any good, while others say this is a productive step in the right direction towards overcoming the growing opioid epidemic.

90 people died from opioid overdoses in Camden County in 2017.
