Moody Air Force Base is located along the southern most edge of the state of Georgia. The base is only a few miles away from the city of Valdosta which provides access to a multitude of activities and points of interest.
Airport Info
Valdosta Regional and Thomasville Regional Airports are within a short driving distance to Moody AFB. Although friends and family members of military personnel can visit them on base, to do so they have to arrive at an outside airport. Both regional airports are easy to navigate and accommodate all types of flight from small, personal planes to large commercial passenger flights.
Weather
Located a few miles from the Georgia/Florida state line, the weather at Moody AFB is slightly warmer than the rest of the state. During the summer months the temperatures average 90 degrees during the daytime hours and 68 degrees at night. In the winter, the temperatures are much more moderate. Day time temps average 62 during the day and 38 during the overnight hours.
Precipitation ranges from 2.8 inches to 5.5 inches throughout the year. The heaviest rainfall tends to occur in the spring and can fluctuate wildly during the summer months due to strong storms that blow in from the ocean.

Super 8 of Valdosta, the Drury Inn and the La Quinta Inn & Suites of Valdosta are located close to the airport and within a few miles drive of Moody AFB. All of the hotels in the area offer rates for extended stays by family members who are visiting loved ones who live on the air force base. Each of the three hotels are affordable and well known for quality service.

Unemployment statistics for the area are well below the state average. There are job opportunities on the base as well as in the community. Metal and plastic factories employ the majority of workers in the area. There are also an abundance of positions available in the food service industry.
