Outpatient Rehab in Maryland – Crossing the Line From Addiction to Prevention
As the seventh of the original thirteen colonies, Maryland has grown throughout the centuries to become our country’s land of opportunity and diversity. Such a constant influx of diversity is at times an equation for increased substance abuse. Although Maryland ranks lowest in the nation for alcohol-related deaths at 7.5%, and has the 18th lowest drug overdose mortality rate in the United States, heroin is a problem. Heroin overdose mortalities spiked 88% between 2011 and 2013 in Maryland, and the numbers continue to grow.
To fight what is considered a health crisis, the governor of Maryland has launched a public information campaign to reduce opioid overdoses and to educate the public on treatment centers, such as methadone rehab.
