Top 16 Free Or Low-Cost Drug And Alcohol Rehab Centers In Louisiana

Finding affordable substance abuse treatment can be difficult. The following is a list of the top free and low-cost drug and alcohol addiction locations in Louisiana.

The 16 Best Free Or Low-Cost Drug And Alcohol Rehab Facilities In Louisiana

Prescription opioid abuse increased four times over since 2012, and fentanyl overdoses have increased by 500% since 2014. This spike in prescription overdoses in Louisiana has raised some concerns regarding access to and funding for treatment.

Addressing drug and alcohol abuse in Louisiana has become a national responsibility, and since 2012 funding has been increased to combat this national epidemic. According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), Louisiana received over $41 million in grants dedicated to drug and alcohol abuse in 2017.

As recently as September 2018, the federal government announced that Louisiana has been granted $24 million to attempt to thwart the opioid epidemic in the state. The intention is to increase access to treatment, to medication-assisted treatment (MATs), and expand services into rural areas of Louisiana.

Increasing the number of available beds in a substance abuse treatment facility will make access to treatment even easier. With these updates and expansions, the list of free or low-cost treatment facilities is very likely to change and additions will probably happen over the next several months.

Currently, this is an up to date list of low-cost or free drug and alcohol abuse facilities in Louisiana.
