Luis G. Manzo, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist (NY) with over 15 years of experience providing mental health services to young adults. Dr. Manzo has extensive experience working with individuals struggling with substance abuse in both community and college settings. He is currently the Executive Director of Student Wellness and Assessment at St. John’s University in Queens, NY. Previous positions include University Director of Mental Health and Wellness at the City University of New York, Director of Counseling and Psychological Services at the Polytechnic Institute of New York University, Assistant Director of Counseling at Montclair State University, staff psychologist and Addictions Specialist at the University of Notre Dame, and the Coordinator of Drug and Alcohol Services at Lafayette College.
Luis earned his doctorate in Counseling Psychology from Loyola University Chicago, a MA in Sport Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his BA in Psychology and History at Bates College from Lewiston, Maine.
His research has appeared in publications suchas the Journal of Applied Sport Psychology, Journal of American College Health, and American Clinical Laboratory Magazine. He also co-authored “For the Athlete: Alcohol and Athletic Performance”,a piece that has been widely adopted by college and universities, and used by the NCAA.
Luis is the owner of BACZONE, LLC and co-developer of iDrinkSmarter(mobile phone app), a harm reduction company dedicated to preventing excessive alcohol use.
