John Schaffer, LPCC

John Schaffer is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) and is an addiction therapist at The Bluffs. John received his bachelor’s degree in counseling psychology from the Union Institute & University in Cincinnati, and he earned his master’s degree in professional counseling from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia.  

Prior to becoming a therapist, John had a successful career in print and radio advertising. Over time he developed a driving passion for helping others realize their potential and improve their lives. This led him to pursue a new career in the field of psychotherapy.

John’s career has been broad and varied, with special interests in temperament types, learned helplessness, multisystemic therapy and values-centered therapy—a model he developed as his master’s thesis. John has served on the ADAMHS board of Tuscarawas and Carroll counties in Ohio and taught courses at Stark State College in Ohio.
