Isaac Alexis, M.D., holds a postdoctoral certification in trauma surgery from Cornell University and has worked in neurobiology at Columbia University for the past 20 years. Dr. Alexis has been featured on CBS and Fox News as a physician media correspondent, reaching an audience of more than 1.2 million people.
Dr. Alexis’s book, Life and Death Behind the Brick and Razor-Code Red Diamond, relays his experiences as a physician in correctional medical facilities while also challenging teenagers to make better decisions to avoid the perils of incarceration.
Dr. Alexis has served as Medical Director at the Department of Justice, as Director of Infection Control and as chair of the quality improvement medical committee for a Public Health Corps hospital in Michigan. He served as an attending physician in emergency medicine and hospitalist, seeing firsthand the effects of opioid addiction. Dr. Alexis has also served served as Medical Director of an addiction treatment center in West Virginia, helping to save hundreds of patients from fatal overdoses.
Dr. Alexis completed his internship in trauma surgery at Cornell University at New York Hospital of Queens. He is a board-certified Alternative Medicine Physician and is certified by the American Alternative Medical Association.
