His work in mental and behavioral health is rooted in his experience as a suicide researcher with one of the world’s leading experts on the topic. His work with the Department of Defense included identifying risk factors for military suicides. While working with veterans at Brown University, Dr. Bender observed a tremendous amount of substance use issues and pursued the link between suicide and substance use disorders.
As the Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Bender’s vision is for Addiction Campuses’ Turning Point facility to become a beacon of hope in the community by encouraging local law enforcement, local businesses, the medical community, and local government to work towards results in the effort again addiction and overdose.
