Carfentanil-Laced Heroin Abuse And Addiction Infographic

Carfentanil (also called carfentanyl) is a potent opioid synthetic the strength of which totals 10,000 times that of morphine, and 100 times that of fentanyl, a potent narcotic analgesic. It is the most potent opioid in commercial use, and is meant for use as an anaesthetic in large animals only– the strength of one dosage of carfentanil makes it far too potent for use in humans. To put it in perspective, the next potent opioid used commercially for humans is 10 to 20 times less potent (sufentanil). In fact, some people who had the misfortune of coming into contact with carfentanil externally (such as one account of a vet who got splashed in the face with it) became immediately drowsy, and had to be transported to an emergency room.
