Rehab Centers That Accept Cigna Insurance In Wyoming

Healthcare towards drug rehabilitation can be a tough nut for many people to crack. Understanding your coverage options and how to pay for full services can feel distracting and upsetting. And if you’re in Wyoming, you can feel cut-off from a wide variety of insurance plans and options. Thankfully, Cigna offers Wyoming residents access to a variety of different plans.

Cigna, formerly known in Wyoming as Great West, offers four plans—three standard PPO’s and a high deductible health plan (HDHP). The main difference between coverage in these plans lies in the deductible and yearly out-of-pocket maximums. Understanding these differences can help you choose the plan that is right for you.

PPO And HDHP Coverage For Drug And Alcohol Addiction Treatment

Cigna covers substance abuse treatment in much the same way that it would any other type of medical condition. The wording in the Cigna policy states:

“The mental/nervous and substance abuse benefit provides coverage for mental health services, including treatment for alcoholism, drug addiction and other substance abuse, regardless of the origin of the condition. A mental/nervous or substance abuse condition is a condition that is classified by the International Classification of Diseases as a psychiatric condition. This benefit includes coverage for both inpatient and outpatient treatment. Certain services for treatment of mental health/substance abuse require pretreatment authorization.”

What this means for insurance holders is that they will generally be able to receive care for mental health issues (including drug or alcohol addiction or substance abuse) just like any other type of treatment.

Co-Pays And Co-Insurance

The various addiction treatments have different co-pay or co-insurance amounts in Wyoming. Below you will find a rundown of the most common options you may come across when seeking assistance with a substance abuse issue:

Emergency Services – $100 copay with Cigna covering 80 to 85% of remainder
Office Visits – Cigna covers 85% of network physicians in Wyoming and 80% of non-network treatments
Inpatient And Outpatient Hospital Care – Cigna 85% in-network and 80% out of network
It’s important to note that each level of the Cigna plan in Wyoming has a different out-of-pocket maximum. Option 1 has a $2,350 max for an individual and Option 4 has a max of $7,000, with the others falling somewhere in the middle.

Prior Authorization Exception

The final line of the statement from Cigna states that certain services for treatment of mental health and substance abuse problems require pre-treatment authorization. What this designation means is that the doctor or clinic prescribing such treatment will have to obtain authorization from Cigna before beginning certain treatments.

While the policy information doesn’t go into details, it should be assumed that pre-treatment authorization would be necessary for anything beyond “the basics” such as inpatient treatment, detox, behavioral, or holistic therapy.

What Are Some Of The Treatment Options In Wyoming?

Inpatient Treatment For Substance Abuse – Inpatient treatment means that the patient is expected to stay in a treatment facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for a pre-determined length of time. This type of treatment allows constant monitoring and ongoing therapy for patients who need it most. Treatment usually lasts between 30-120 days.

Outpatient Treatment For Substance Abuse – Outpatient treatment can be just as effective for patients who are committed to following through with the program. This type of substance abuse treatment involves attending one or more meetings a day and following a prescribed plan for recovery.

Holistic Treatment For Substance Abuse – Holistic treatment addresses the body, mind, and and spirit to provide the patient with additional methods of recovery. Holistic therapies do normally require pre-treatment authorization, but can be an excellent addition to standard treatments.

Cigna published a document about the difference between inpatient and outpatient therapy, which describes inpatient treatment as being slightly more intense and most suitable for those who have not succeeded in an outpatient setting. It is also suitable for patients who do not have a stable home life.

While deciding on the right insurance policy can be difficult, keeping in mind any potential needs for substance abuse treatment can help you make the right decision for you and your family. If you have any more questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us at Rehabcenter.net to learn more.
