Finding the program that is right for you depends on many factors. If you have a health savings account, then BlueDirect is an affordable option, but otherwise, you will most likely choose BlueCare or BlueEssential.

Plan Breakdown For BCBS Of North Dakota

Each of the plans offered by BCBS of North Dakota is designed to fit into a specific lifestyle. BlueCare is for the health care consumer that wants full coverage with a lower deductible. The BlueCare 70 500 Gold plans offer an in-network deductible of $500 for an individual and $1,000 for a family. For out-of-network treatment, the deductible goes up to $1,000 for an individual and $2,000 for a family.

The Silver BlueCare plans offer deductibles that range from $500 to $2,800.

Compare that to the BlueDirect plan designed to provide lower monthly premiums but higher deductibles. With the BlueDirect 100 2300 Gold plan, the in-network deductible is $2,300 for an individual and $4,600 for a family. That goes up to $4,600 for individual out-of-network care and $9,200 for the family deductible. The deductibles are higher because you can draw from a healthcare savings account to cover them.

BlueDirect offers:

  • Two Gold levels
  • Five Silver levels
  • Two Bronze levels

The levels determines your contribution for overall care. At the Bronze level, you contribute 10 percent of your overall health care services; at Silver it is 30 percent; and only 20 for a gold level policy. The deductible and copayments vary for each plan regardless of the level.

What Blue Cross Blue Shield Of North Dakota Pays For Rehab

The amount you contribute towards drug rehab depends on the policy you purchase from BCBS. The benefits may change between the various levels, such as gold. In general BlueCare pays 70 percent for in-network rehabilitation and 50 percent for out-of-network treatment with a few exceptions:

The two BlueCare 80 plans pay 80 percent of the cost of in-network rehab and 40 percent for out-of-network care.
BlueCare 90 pays 90 percent of the cost of in-network rehab and 30 percent for out-of-network care.
The Gold plans cover 100 percent of the expenses for in-network treatment and 20 percent for out-of-network. The Silver plans cover 80 percent for in-network and 40 for out-of-network. If you opt for BlueDirect 80 2600 IHS and use one of their providers, there is no cost for treatment. The two available BlueDirect 90 plans offer 90 percent coverage for in-network treatment and 30 percent for out-of-network.

Since the plans are so diverse, it is critical that you research them prior to making a selection. It can mean the difference between paying hundreds of dollars out of pocket for drug treatment and paying nothing.

Precertification

Most BCBS plans in North Dakota do not require precertification.
