Montana Drug Detox Centers

The State of Montana is known for its wide open spaces and abundance of natural beauty. While residents love the opportunity to enjoy the endless blue skies, they also face the same societal issues of those who live in the big cities. Montana ranked as the 21st highest state when it comes to drug overdose mortality rates. In 2010, 12.9 out of every 100,000 drug overdose incidents were fatal, a rate that more than doubled from 1999. In 1999, the rate was 4.6 deaths for every 100,000 overdose incidents. Many of these drug overdose deaths were related to prescription drug abuse.

Given the fact that the drug overdose mortality rate has more than doubled in Montana, state legislators have decided that now is the time to take action. In 2011, a law was added that required pharmacies to keep a prescription drug registry. This database was designed to help monitor prescriptions and improve patient safety. In 2013, workers compensation laws were changed and allows queries to be made to the prescription drug registry in order to provide workers who were injured on the job with the medications that they need in order to stay comfortable and manage their pain.
